Arianespace signs new agreement with Eutelsat

KOUROU, French Guiana (AP) — A European space consortium says it will launch new satellites for Paris-based Eutelsat Communications from its site in French Guiana.

Arianespace says it expects to launch as many as four satellites by 2017 as a result of a new agreement with the French satellite provider. The consortium has already launched more than 60 percent of Eutelsat's satellites, some of which provide telecommunication, data and broadband services to Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia.

Arianespace CEO and Chairman Jean-Yves Le Gall said Friday that a previous contract with Eutelsat calls for two launches by 2015.
