Person throws homemade bombs at Spain Coke plant

MADRID (AP) — Police say an unidentified person threw five Molotov cocktails at the entrance of a Coca-Cola bottling plant in the Madrid suburb of Fuenlabrada before fleeing.

A police official says the attack happened at 5.30 a.m. Friday as company workers were protesting peacefully against layoffs announced by the multinational. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to be identified in the media, said no one was injured.

He said police scientists are investigating the site and collecting evidence for analysis. Around 200 workers at the plant are on an indefinite strike protesting Coca-Cola Iberian Partners' plans to close four of its 11 plants and lay off 1,253 workers.
