DOHA, Qatar (AP) — The Middle East-based Qatar Airways says it will start flying business class-only flights from its hub in Doha to London's Heathrow airport.
The Airbus A319 aircraft will have two seats on each side of a single-aisle. It will be the only flight of its kind in the Middle East as there are only a few airlines around the world that offer this type of service.
The addition, starting May 15, pushes to six the number of daily flights Qatar Airways operates to Heathrow. Qatar Airways has stiff regional competition from deep-pocketed airlines in the United Arab Emirates. As part of its aggressive expansion program, Qatar Airways will launch routes to eight new destinations this year, including to Philadelphia, Miami and Dallas.
