KUUSAMO, Finland (AP) — Severin Freund reached 135 meters on his second jump to win the ski jumping World Cup event with 266.1 points, ahead of Dimitry Vassiliev of Russia and Simon Ammann of Switzerland.
It was the German's fourth individual career victory. Vassiliev scored 265.4 points while Ammann trailed with 255.7. Austria's Gregor Schlierenzauer placed fourth. Slovakian Jaka Hvala led after the first round with the longest jump of the day of 141 meters. But he failed on his second jump, reaching only 97 meters, and dropped to 24th place overall with 194.5.
