Police investigate fire that killed 2 children

MAASTRICHT, Netherlands (AP) — Police are investigating the cause of a blaze that killed two young children and injured their mother in the southern Dutch city of Maastricht.

Firefighters say in a statement they pulled the children out of a home that was engulfed by flames in the early hours of Monday, "but sadly the help came too late for them." Their mother was also injured in the fire and taken to a nearby hospital.

Further details of the victims were not immediately available.
