Naked gunman on Austrian streets, suspect nabbed

VIENNA (AP) — Austrian police say they have arrested a suspect after witnesses reported a naked man armed with a handgun strolling through a town's snow-covered streets.

A police statement says the man was seen Tuesday near schools and kindergartens in the town of Moedling, south of Vienna. A suspect was later arrested along with a woman companion in an apartment where police found a handgun and other weapons.

Police suspect both were under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The 39-year-old suspect — who was not identified in accordance with Austrian practice — has been charged with weapons and narcotics-related crimes.
