MOSCOW (AP) — Russia's anti-narcotics agency says a Colombian claiming to be a Roman Catholic priest has been arrested at a Moscow airport carrying 780 grams (1.7 pounds) of cocaine, some of it in his stomach.
The Federal Counter-Narcotics Service said in a statement Wednesday that the man, wearing clerical garb, was detained at Sheremetyevo Airport when he appeared ill and nervous. He was taken to a hospital, where 13 containers of cocaine were found in his stomach and five more in his luggage.
The statement did not specify the kind of containers, but footage on state television indicated they were condoms. A service spokeswoman said the man was detained Jan. 23 and is still in custody. The service said the man's documents identified him as a priest from a congregation in Bogota.
