Greenpeace activists scale Swedish nuclear plant

STOCKHOLM (AP) — Swedish police have arrested a group of Greenpeace activists who trespassed at a nuclear power plant and climbed on top of a reactor building.

The environmentalist group says about 20 activists early Wednesday used ladders to scale fences surrounding the reactors at the Oskarshamn plant in southeastern Sweden. Six of them then climbed to the top of a reactor building and unfurled a banner from the roof.

Police spokeswoman Lina Isaksson Funke says all were apprehended by security guards or police, and at least 13 were arrested for aggravated trespassing. She said police would search the premises to make sure all of the intruders had been found.

The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority called it a serious security breach at the plant, whose three reactors generate 10 percent of Sweden's electricity.
