LONDON (AP) — London has been chosen to host the international Paralympic athletics world championships in 2017.
The event will be held in July at the Olympic Stadium, a month before the same venue hosts the IAAF world track and field championships. London will be the first city to host the two events side-by-side. The stadium hosted athletics at the Olympics and Paralympics this year.
London Mayor Boris Johnson says "the capital is poised to recreate the magic of 2012." The IPC athletics world championships are the largest single-sport competition for athletes with an impairment. They take place every two years.
