LONDON (AP) — The London Grand Prix will be staged at the Olympic Stadium on July 27, exactly a year after the venue hosted the opening ceremony of the London Games.
The Diamond League meet is usually held at the 15,500-seat National Sports Centre at Crystal Palace but will now take place at the stadium in east London that has an 80,000 capacity. British athlete Mo Farah, who won Olympic gold in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters last year, says "the atmosphere was electric during the games ... so it's great that the British fans, and athletes, will get to experience that again."
The Olympic Park has been closed to the public since the end of the Paralympic Games but will open again in phases, starting July 27.
