Belarus player tests positive at Olympic qualifier

ZURICH (AP) — Belarus ice hockey player Andrei Mikhalyov has been suspended after testing positive for a banned stimulant at an Olympic qualifying match.

The International Ice Hockey Federation says "Mikhalyov is barred from club and international play" until its disciplinary panel rules on the case. The governing body says he has not played for Dynamo Minsk in the Russia-based KHL since March 7.

Mikhalyov tested positive for methylhexaneamine on Feb. 8 at an Olympic qualification tournament in Denmark. Belarus was eliminated and will not play at the Sochi Winter Games next February.
