MADRID (AP) — The Spanish football federation has confirmed that Doha will host a friendly between Spain and Uruguay on Feb. 6 as part of the teams' preparations for upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The Spanish federation said on Thursday that the game will be held in Qatar's Khalifa International Stadium. World and two-time European champion Spain is level on points with France at the top of its qualifying group for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Spain plays Finland on March 22 and four days later travels to France for a game that could decide the group winner. Uruguay, which reached the semifinals at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, is currently fifth in the South American qualifying group. It next plays Paraguay and Chile in qualifiers.
