Mexico loses right to host 2015 equestrian finals

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — The International Equestrian Federation has withdrawn hosting rights for the 2015 World Cup Finals from Guadalajara, Mexico, and will offer them to Las Vegas.

The FEI says organizers in Guadalajara were "unable to meet in full the requirements imposed" to host the jumping and dressage competitions. Las Vegas was the other original bidder last year for the events, and the FEI has contacted officials there, "to see if they are still interested."

The FEI says "hosting rights will not automatically be transferred to the American city," and that organizers would still have to fulfill certain demands. The FEI says it hopes Mexico will apply in future "as we are very keen to see a world-class equestrian event organized in the region."
