Sandro undergoes surgery on knee injury

LONDON (AP) — Tottenham midfielder Sandro is set for a lengthy spell out of action after undergoing surgery on his right knee.

The Brazil international landed awkwardly as he jumped for a challenge in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League and was forced off. Spurs said Wednesday that Sandro's "recovery schedule will be assessed over the next few days."

With Sandro out, Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas should give more game time to Scott Parker, who has recently returned from an Achilles injury.
