Season over for Utrecht midfielder Adam Sarota

AMSTERDAM (AP) — FC Utrecht says a knee injury will sideline Australia midfielder Adam Sarota for the rest of the season.

Sarota tore a cruciate ligament in his right knee in Utrecht's 3-1 win over Willem II Tilburg on Sunday. Utrecht announced Monday that Sarota will have to undergo surgery to repair the ligament and will likely be out of action for eight to 10 months.

Club doctor Niels Wijne says it is not yet clear when the former Brisbane Roar player will undergo the surgery. Sarota played twice for the Socceroos, making his debut against Wales in 2011.
