ZURICH (AP) — Italian referee Nicola Rizzoli will referee the first leg of the World Cup playoff between Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal and Zlatan Ibrahimovic's Sweden.
FIFA says Rizzoli, who refereed the Champions League final in May, will handle the opening match in Lisbon on Nov. 15. The return match is four days later in Stockholm. FIFA also selected Cuneyt Cakir of Turkey to referee Ukraine vs. France in Kiev. Pedro Proenca of Portugal will referee Greece vs Romania in Athens, and Alberto Undiano of Spain will handle Iceland vs. Croatia in Reykjavik.
All four referees are on FIFA's list of candidates to be selected for the World Cup in Brazil.
