Swansea wins Welsh derby 3-0 against Cardiff

SWANSEA, Wales (AP) — Swansea manager Garry Monk enjoyed a perfect start as his team won the south Wales derby 3-0 against Cardiff to move away from the Premier League relegation zone on Saturday.

Wayne Routledge scored from Pablo Hernandez's perfect through pass in the 47th minute, clipping the ball into the far corner to put the hosts ahead before Nathan Dyer and Wilfried Bony added more gloss to the win with late goals.

Craig Bellamy almost leveled but his shot from 25 yards hit the crossbar. It was Swansea's first game since manager Michael Laudrup was sacked earlier this week, with Swansea player Monk taking over. Swansea is now six points above second-to-last Cardiff in 10th spot.
