Rossi, Gomez injury returns on hold at Fiorentina

FLORENCE, Italy (AP) — Italy forward Giuseppe Rossi's return from his latest right knee injury is on hold for at least another week, while Germany striker Mario Gomez may miss the rest of the season.

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella says that "while he is healed, Rossi couldn't be called up (for Saturday's match at Bologna) because he's not in adequate physical condition yet." Montella added he hopes Rossi's form improves so he can play the May 3 Italian Cup final vs. Napoli.

Rossi has been out since in January. As for Gomez, who injured his left knee last month, Montella says "I'm worried we won't see him from now until the end of the season. That's my feeling since he hasn't rejoined the squad."

Both players still hope to make their World Cup squads.
