Kvitova to open Czech's Fed Cup title defense

OSTRAVA, Czech Republic (AP) — Petra Kvitova will begin the Czech Republic's defense of the Fed Cup title against Jarmila Gajdosova of Australia.

Lucie Safarova will play the second singles on Saturday for the host against Sam Stosur on an indoor hard-court at CEZ Arena in the eastern city of Ostrava. In Sunday's reverse singles, Kvitova first plays Stosur, then Safarova takes on Gajdosova.

In the doubles, Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka will play the Australian pair of Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua, who reached the final at the Australian Open. The Czechs are using the same team that won the title by beating Serbia 3-1 in Prague in November.

It is the first meeting of the teams since the breakup of the former Czechoslovakia in 1993.
