LONDON (AP) — The emir of Kuwait is in Britain as an official guest of Queen Elizabeth II.
Sheik Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah was greeted Tuesday with a military ceremony at Windsor Castle to mark the official start of a three-day state visit. The queen, her husband Prince Philip and eldest son Prince Charles greeted the Arab leader. The queen arrived in a carriage procession with an escort provided by the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment dressed in breastplates and plumed helmets.
The oil-rich Gulf state is a British ally, and the emir's visit will include a meeting with Prime Minister David Cameron, as well as political and economic talks between British and Kuwaiti ministers.
The queen usually hosts several state visits each year.
