Snowboarder suffocates in deep snow in Austria

VIENNA (AP) — Austria's state broadcaster says a snowboarder suffocated after landing head-first in deep snow.

Broadcaster ORF cites police as saying the unidentified German fell into a ravine where more than 4 meters (more than 12 feet) of snow had accumulated at Tyrol's Saalbach-Hinterglem skiing region. The ORF website said that an emergency doctor flown in by helicopter was unable to revive the 32-year-old victim Wednesday.
