DUBLIN (AP) — Ireland rewarded Craig Gilroy for scoring a hat trick of tries in last weekend's thrashing by its second-string team of Fiji by putting him in the starting lineup for Saturday's crucial test against Argentina.

Gilroy replaced Andrew Trimble on Thursday in the only change to the side that started the 16-12 loss to South Africa on Nov. 10. The 53-0 win over Fiji was classed as a non-cap international, meaning the 21-year-old Gilroy will be making his test debut.

Ireland is still without key players Brian O'Driscoll, Paul O'Connell, Rory Best, Stephen Ferris, Sean O'Brien and Rob Kearney. The result of the match will carry major significance with the losers dropping into the third tier of seeds for the pool draw for the 2015 World Cup, which is made Dec. 3.

The Irish have lost their past five tests, their worst run for 14 years, placing coach Declan Kidney under pressure.
