OSTERSUND, Sweden (AP) — Olympic champion Tora Berger of Norway won the first individual biathlon World Cup race of the season on Wednesday, shooting clean to finish well ahead of runner-up Darya Domracheva of Belarus.
Berger finished the 15-kilometer event in Ostersund in 44 minutes, 33.5 seconds to beat Domracheva by 1 minute, 3.2 seconds. Domracheva missed two targets. She lost out on the overall World Cup title last season to Magdalena Neuner of Germany, who retired after winning her third overall title.
Ekaterina Glazyrina of Russia came third Wednesday, missing no targets but finishing 2 minutes, 10.2 seconds behind Berger.
