KOENIGSSEE, Germany (AP) — European champion Andi Langenhan led a German sweep of the top 3 positions on Sunday in the second luge World Cup event of the season.
Langenhan edged defending World Cup and Olympic champion Felix Loch by 0.041 seconds to finish in an aggregate time of 1 minute, 38.679 seconds over two runs for his sixth career win. "To beat Felix on his home track is really something special," said Langenhan, who set a course record of 49.252 seconds in his first run.
David Moeller was third, 0.263 behind Langenhan, followed by Russia's Albert Demchenko and Italy's Armin Zoeggeler in fourth and fifth. Germany also dominated the women's and men's doubles races on Saturday, with 1-2 finishes in both events.
The luge World Cup continues next weekend in Altenberg, Germany. "It can look very different next week," Loch said.
