Report: Pilot dies in German helicopter crash

BERLIN (AP) — A helicopter has crashed on a busy highway in southwest Germany, killing the pilot.

German news agency DPA has reported the private helicopter likely snagged a power line before coming down on the A6 autobahn near Schwaebisch Hall on Thursday. The helicopter collided with a tractor trailer but DPA cited local police saying the driver of the vehicle was unharmed.

Authorities closed the highway causing a traffic jam of almost 20 kilometers (12.5 miles).
