VILNIUS, Lithuania (AP) — Lithuanian prosecutors say they have reopened an investigation into allegations that a Saudi citizen suspected of involvement in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks was held at a secret CIA detention site in the Baltic country.
The prosecutors' decision follows a Jan. 29 Vilnius court judgment ordering the probe. A previous investigation closed in 2011 citing lack of evidence that the Saudi man, Mustafa al-Hawsawi, was ever in Lithuania.
Human rights watchdog Redress says al-Hawsawi was secretly brought to Lithuania in March 2004 and held there until September 2006. He is currently detained in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
