Wales prop Jarvis out for season with knee injury

CARDIFF, Wales (AP) — A knee injury needing surgery will prevent new Wales prop Aaron Jarvis from playing again this season.

The tighthead prop, who made his international debut against Argentina this month, hurt his right knee ligaments only three minutes into the 33-10 loss to New Zealand last weekend and had to be carried off on a stretcher.

Chris Towers, the physiotherapist with Jarvis' Ospreys club, says on Wednesday the injury is significant and he will miss the rest of the season. Jarvis was filling the void at international and club level left by Adam Jones, who's also out with a knee injury until after Christmas.

Cardiff Blues forward Scott Andrews, who took over from Jarvis against the All Blacks, is tipped to start against Australia in Wales' last test of the year on Saturday at Millennium Stadium.
