Halfpenny released from hospital after neck scare

CARDIFF, Wales (AP) — Wales fullback Leigh Halfpenny has been discharged from the hospital after scans revealed his neck injury from the test against Australia wasn't serious.

Halfpenny was carried off on a stretcher complaining of neck pain after being hurt tackling Dave Dennis in the buildup to Kurtley Beale's match-winning try for the Wallabies with 20 seconds left. Australia won Saturday's match 14-12 in Cardiff.

The Welsh Rugby Union says in a statement released on Sunday that "Halfpenny will now undertake a period of treatment and rehabilitation to ensure that a swift return to play is undertaken."
