Machida defeats Munoz by knockout

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida confirmed his title contender credentials in the UFC middleweight ranks Saturday with a stunning first-round knockout win over Mark Munoz.

Machida scored a direct kick to the head of Munoz to knock out his training partner at 3.10 minutes into the first round in the UFC's first show in the city in four years. Earlier, Jimi Manuwa took his MMA record to 13-0 with a TKO victory over Ryan Jimmo, who appeared to sustain an achilles injury that caused him to verbally submit to referee Neil Hall at 4:41 of the second round.

In his UFC debut, Scotland's Nico Musoke scored a submission victory over veteran Alessio Sakara with a beautiful transition from guard to armbar.
