LONDON (AP) — A planned two-day strike on London's subway system has been canceled at the last minute.
The strike had been set to begin Tuesday at 9 p.m. before crisis talks produced a deal. Union officials said Tuesday that extended talks had led to proposals that would halt the implementation of contested job cuts.
The unions are trying to prevent plans to close all London Underground ticket offices at the cost of 950 jobs. A two-day strike last week led to substantial transit problems in the crowded British capital.
