French president to visit San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The president of France is scheduled to visit San Francisco on Wednesday to meet with Silicon Valley executives and entrepreneurs.

President Francois Hollande will arrive in the San Francisco Bay Area on Feb. 12, after a three-day state visit to Washington, where on Feb. 10 he traveled with President Obama to Monticello, the Virginia home of President Thomas Jefferson, who was also ambassador to France.

The Obamas also hosted Hollande for a lavish state dinner on Tuesday in Washington. The last state visit by a French president was in 1996 when Jacques Chirac visited Bill Clinton.
