BASSE-TERRE, Guadeloupe (AP) — Residents in the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe are mourning the deaths of six people killed in a recent shooting.
Petit-Bourg Mayor Guy Losbar says several events to promote peace on the island are being planned, including a march scheduled for Saturday. Losbar on Thursday ordered all schools and businesses to temporarily close in honor of those killed.
Police say 40-year-old David Ramassamy killed his wife, 6- and 11-year-old children and three other relatives last weekend before committing suicide. Authorities have provided no motive for the killings.
