WCup downhill training canceled due to snowfall

ST. ANTON, Austria (AP) — Organizers have canceled Friday's final training session for a women's World Cup downhill race because of heavy snowfall.

The cancelation left the racers with just one practice run on the 2.2-kilometer Karl Schranz course, which hasn't been part of the women's World Cup since 2007. Lara Gut of Switzerland posted the fastest time in Thursday's session, which saw defending overall champion Lindsey Vonn returning to the circuit after a three-week layoff to recover from an intestinal illness.

Weather was forecast to improve for the races this weekend, with the downhill on Saturday and a super-G Sunday.
