KOENIGSSEE, Germany (AP) — Lyndon Rush and brakeman Jesse Lumsden of Canada won their second two-man bobsled race of the season and extended their overall World Cup lead on Saturday.
In the seventh of nine races, Rush and Lumsden came in 0.38 seconds ahead of Latvian duo Oskars Melbardis and Daumants Dreiskens, whose second place brought them their best result of the season and their first podium finish since December 2011.
Junior world champion Francesco Friedrich of Germany and brakeman Gino Gerhardi came in third, 0.50 seconds back. Rush's victory gave him a total of 1,288 points atop the overall standings. Manuel Machata of Germany, who finished sixth, is second with 1,224 points, and world champion Steven Holcomb of the United States is third at 1,219 points after placing eighth.
