Dutchwoman Wust leads at European Championship

HEERENVEEN, Netherlands (AP) — Dutch speedskaters Irene Wust and Sven Kramer lead at the European Championships after Saturday's races, after Wust won the women's 3,000-meter race.

Wust's time of 4 minutes, 1.25 seconds was 2.43 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor, four-time champion Martina Sablikova of the Czech Republic. Wust also took fourth place in the 500 which was won by Czech racer Karolina Erbanova in 38.72 seconds.

Dutchwomen hold the overall top four spots before the 1,500 and 3,000 races on Sunday. Poland's Konrad Niedzwiedzki won the men's 1,500 in 1:46.32. Five-time champion Kramer finished eighth, but remains more than five seconds ahead in the overall standings after dominating the 5,000 on Friday. The men's 10,000 is on Sunday.
