Martin Fourcade of France wins 10K biathlon sprint

RUHPOLDING, Germany (AP) — Martin Fourcade of France shot perfectly while keeping a fast pace on the cross-country trail to win a 10-kilometer biathlon World Cup on Saturday for his third victory of the season.

The 16th victory of Fourcade's career extended his lead atop the overall standings. The Frenchman did not hurry his shots and took longer than his rival to complete the shooting part, but he was clearly the fastest on skis to win comfortably over Evgeny Ustyugov of Russia, who was 16.4 seconds behind.

Andrei Makoveev of Russia was third, 33 seconds adrift. None of the top three finishers missed any of the 10 targets.
