ANTHOLZ, Italy (AP) — Anastasiya Kuzmina of Slovakia claimed her first biathlon World Cup victory of the season after a perfect race in a women's 7.5-kilometer sprint on Thursday.
Kuzmina, who won gold in the event at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, started 32nd but crossed the line 16.7 seconds ahead of second-place Kaisa Makarainen of Finland after shooting cleanly. Makarainen had one penalty, as did Darya Domracheva of Belarus, who finished third.
Domracheva moves into second in the standings, overtaking Miriam Goessner of Germany who missed seven shots and finished in 62nd place, over two and half minutes behind Kuzmina. World Cup leader Tora Berger was 14th, after missing three targets. She has a 120-point lead over Domracheva, with Goessner 20 points further back.
