IGLS, Austria (AP) — Beat Hefti of Switzerland won a World Cup two-man bobsled race, which also counted as the European championships, on Saturday.
Hefti and his pusher Thomas Lamparter were fastest in both heats and finished in a combined time of 1 minute, 45.04 seconds to beat Germany's Thomas Florschuetz, who teamed up with Kevin Kuske, by 0.10.
Francesco Friedrich and his pusher Jannis Baecker of Germany came another 0.02 back in third. With one Word Cup event remaining in Sochi in February, Friedrich went top of the standings with 1,465 points, leading second-place Lyndon Rush of Canada by a single point.
Oskars Melbardis of Latvia is third with 1,402 points. The bobsled meet in Igls, Austria is concluded by a 4-man competition on Sunday.
