PARIS (AP) — France coach Philippe Saint-Andre made just one change to his squad for Saturday's Six Nations match against Wales after its humiliating defeat against Italy.
Toulon lock Jocelino Suta replaces captain Pascal Pape, who was forced off against Italy with a knee injury. "I have rewatched the match several times, with (assistants) Yannick (Bru) and Patrice (Lagisquet)," Saint-Andre said. "We have analyzed and dissected the game and the players. We saw a lot of sloppy play and lack of lucidity in yesterday's match. Our team has to rediscover its collective desire, enthusiasm and spontaneity.
"In order to work with this group in this short week, we haven't made any change apart from Pascal Pape's injury. I hope that will bring us a better cohesion to beat Wales on Saturday and that there'll be an extra desire to turn things around. The tournament is far from over."
Suta, who has made three appearances for France, will join up with the rest of the squad on Monday night. Veteran flanker Thierry Dusautoir takes over the captaincy, after making his first appearance for France since last year's Six Nations following a lengthy layoff with a knee injury.
Dusautoir has skippered France 31 times in his 55 internationals. Prolific try-scorer Vincent Clerc remains sidelined with a thigh injury. France fell apart in a woeful second half in Italy to lose 23-18 and surrender its Grand Slam hopes on Sunday.
