SCHLADMING, Austria (AP) — Vitus Lueoend of Switzerland became the third skier after Lindsey Vonn and Kjetil Jansrud to be ruled out of the Alpine world championships with a knee injury.
The Swiss ski federation said Friday that Lueoend had likely torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee after catching a bump in downhill training. Lueoend, who returned this season after recovering from torn ligaments in his other knee, traveled back to Switzerland later Friday for further examinations.
Vonn damaged her right knee in a crash Tuesday in the women's super-G, and Jansrud was injured after sliding off course in the men's super-G the next day.
