KARLSTAD, Sweden (AP) — Frenchman Sebastian Ogier won five stages Friday to take a 31.4-second lead over countryman Sebastian Loeb in the Rally Sweden.
Loeb and Jari-Matti Latvala of Finland swapped positions throughout the day on the snowy roads but it was the nine-time world champion who finished the day in second position, 1.7 seconds ahead of the Finn. Mads Ostberg of Norway was in fourth place, 42.3 seconds behind the leader.
Ogier said he had "a really good feeling. This morning wasn't perfect but it was enough with a good road position. This afternoon was perfect." Two-time Rally Sweden winner Mikko Hirvonen of Finland rolled his Citroen on Friday's first stage and is out of contention after dropping more than 25 minutes, but got some consolation by sharing the quickest time on the day's final stage with Thierry Neuville of Belgium.
