INZELL, Germany (AP) — World Champion Sven Kramer led a Dutch sweep of the top three places in winning the 5,000-meter race at a speedskating World Cup event on Saturday.
Kramer notched his third win in the distance this season by clocking 6 minutes, 11.76 seconds. Bob de Jong was 2.32 seconds behind and Jorrit Bergsma 2.79 seconds back. Bergsma leads the World Cup standings in the event by 20 points from Kramer.
Olympic champion Ireen Wust of the Netherlands won the 1,500-meter race. It was Wust's first race in the distance this season and she clocked a winning time of 1 minute, 55.95 seconds. Diane Valkenburg, also of the Netherlands, was second, 0.47 seconds behind the winner. Yekaterina Shikhova of Russia was third, 1.12 seconds back.
Marrit Leenstra of the Netherlands finished sixth to take over the lead in World Cup standings in the discipline. Previous leader Christine Nesbitt of Canada skipped the event.
