Chambers makes Britain squad for European Indoors

LONDON (AP) — Dwain Chambers has been selected in Britain's squad for next month's European Indoor Championship, giving the sprinter a chance to improve on the silver medal he won in the 60 meters at the 2011 competition.

Jenny Meadows, the defending 800 champion, will captain the squad of 29 despite only making her return last weekend from a 17-month injury absence. Mo Farah and Helen Clitheroe will not defend their 3,000 titles as they are focusing on their preparations for the outdoor season.

The 34-year-old Chambers was included despite missing trials this month and failing to reach the final of the Birmingham Grand Prix on Saturday. The European Indoor Championship will be staged in Gothenburg, Sweden, from March 1-3. Britain won eight medals in Paris two years ago.
