TRONDHEIM, Norway (AP) — World champion Kamil Stoch of Poland hit the 140-meter mark to rise from third and win the ski jumping World Cup on Friday.
Stoch overtook Richard Freitag to beat the German by 1.7 points, and third-placed Daiki Ito of Japan by 8.3 points. First-round leader Richard Kranjec of Slovenia slumped to fifth. Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria, already crowned the overall winner, was 16th.
Women's world champ Sarah Hendrickson of the United States outdueled new World Cup winner, 16-year-old Sara Takanashi of Japan. The 18-year-old Hendrickson jumped 101.5 and 101 meters for 283.0 points. Takanashi earned 274.9 from jumps of 105 and 100. They were the only skiers to reach 100 meters.
