PRAGUE (AP) — Former European weightlifting champion Jiri Orsag of the Czech Republic has tested positive for doping.
Petr Krol, the head of the Czech weightlifting federation, said Thursday that Orsag will miss the forthcoming world championships in Wroclaw, Poland, that opens on Sunday and will likely get a two-year-ban.
Krol did not say which banned substance was involved and says he is still waiting for an official report from the International Weightlifting Federation. He said Orsag tested positive in an out-of-competition control.
He says Orsag denies any wrongdoing. Orsag is the 2011 European champion and finished seventh at the London Olympics in the men's plus-105 kilogram division.
