Tonga prop Taumalolo banned 4 weeks for fighting

LONDON (AP) — Tonga prop Sona Taumalolo was suspended for four weeks and will miss playing Wales in Cardiff on Friday.

Taumalolo and France lock Yoann Maestri were sent off together for fighting each other in the test at Le Havre on Saturday. Both players accepted before an independent judicial hearing on Tuesday that they deserved a red card.

But Maestri's sending off was deemed a sufficient penalty, while Taumalolo's offense was worth a five-week ban with a week off "for mitigating factors." Taumalolo, contracted to Perpignan, will free to play from Dec. 16.
