PRAGUE (AP) — Women's 400-meter hurdles world champion Zuzana Hejnova of the Czech Republic will miss the World Indoor Championships in March and the entire indoor season due a broken toe.
The Czech athletics federation says Hejnova picked up the injury during training in Prague on Saturday. Hejnova said in a statement Sunday that she suddenly felt pain in her foot and that a hospital exam revealed she had a fractured bone in her left fourth toe.
The federation said the Olympic bronze medalist from London should recover in time for the outdoor season. Last year, Hejnova won the women's 400 hurdles at the world championships in Moscow in a world-leading 52.83 seconds and was unbeaten the entire season, including Diamond League races.
