Fenninger edges Hoefl-Riesch in WCup training run

LENZERHEIDE, Switzerland (AP) — Anna Fenninger of Austria was faster than Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany in a downhill training session Monday which began their duel for major World Cup honors this week.

Fenninger was third-fastest on the Silvano Beltrametti course, 0.31 seconds behind Slovenian Tina Maze's pace-setting 1 minute, 34.05 seconds. Fabienne Suter of Switzerland was second, 0.10 back. Hoefl-Riesch was seventh, trailing Fenninger by 0.85 and 1.16 behind Maze.
