Dinamo Zagreb sacks coach Cacic

ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) — Dinamo Zagreb fired coach Ante Cacic after a string of losses in the Champions League.

The Croatian champion named former coach and player Krunislav Jurcic to replace him. Dinamo lost all five Champions League matches this season and scored no goals. The 43-year old Jurcic coached Dinamo in 2008-09 and in 2011 when he was fired after a 7-1 home defeat to Lyon in the Champions League.

Dinamo has dominated the Croatian league, but dropped out of the cup competition this season, and over the weekend lost 1-0 against local rival Zagreb which was at the bottom of the standings. Jurcic was a midfielder in the Croatia team which finished third at the 1998 World Cup. He also played for Sampdoria and Torino in Serie A.
