Keeper error earns Norwich 1-1 draw at Southampton

SOUTHAMPTON, England (AP) — An error by Southampton goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga gifted Norwich a point from a 1-1 draw in the Premier League on Wednesday, in a match marked by the return of referee Mark Clattenburg following hurtful racism accusations.

Gazzaniga allowed a free kick by Robert Snodgrass to sneak under him just before halftime at St. Mary's Stadium, canceling out the scrappy opener scored by Rickie Lambert in the 32nd minute. Southampton extended its unbeaten run in the league to four games but the draw kept the promoted side in the bottom three.

Clattenburg resumed refereeing duties less than a week after being cleared by the Football Association of allegations that he racially abused Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel during a league match.
